As an FPGA Engineer I have contributed towards both hardware and software within the FPGA team, with the primary goal of reducing time taken to place an FPGA in new markets. I was given complete ownership and responsibility as an intern on projects which contribute directly to team and company goals and having my code in production. On the hardware side I migrated a module to a new architecture, working with RTL, unit testing and learning UVM for scalable verification. On the software I was able to practise C++ and Python and developing a new framework for the way certain information is imported. Throughout the placement I have been able to take advantage of every resource: a flat hierarchy means I can speak to people on managerial level whenever I wish, a collaborative environment and access to lots of compute means I'm able to ask questions and explore new ideas with ease, and with university teaching me all the necessary skills for the role I was able to jump right into the work. I was also able to learn about all areas of the business and network with various departments around the company.
